What Does Aligned Living Look Like to You?
Welcome to On The Rise - a space for self-discovery, healing, growth, and other things related to life that can be hard to navigate sometimes. This is a safe space where I hope you feel seen as you walk your journey.
This week's newsletter is a 3-minute read (627 words).
Hey Gang,
I hope you had a great holiday weekend! I spent mine in Colorado with my wife for our annual anniversary trip. And our trip is what made me think of this week’s topic - aligned living!
I’ve been talking about alignment a lot lately. And that’s because it’s one of the foundational elements to living a more authentic, meaningful, and fulfilling life. And it’s one I’ve been working on a lot lately too. Seriously, when you’re living in alignment, your life just feels right! It feels like yours.
In the last newsletter, I talked about what alignment was. In this week’s newsletter, I’d like to invite you in for some deeper reflection by asking: What does aligned living look like to you?
In my own journey, I’ve spent a lot of time chasing false fulfillment. And what I mean by that is I used to think that if I just did what I thought was expected of me or what I thought I should be doing, eventually I would feel comfortable in my life.
But there is no comfort in living a life that doesn’t match who you are or what you want. There’s only a constant feeling of uncomfortableness. And after a while, that feeling turns into a longing for a life that feels like it’s yours. A desperation almost.
As human beings, we have an innate desire to belong. But belonging shouldn’t mean abandoning yourself. In my experience, when you focus on belonging to yourself, you naturally begin to find the places and peer groups where you also feel like you belong. And I think this is because, as you begin to live aligned, everything else falls into alignment too.
My life now feels more like mine than it ever has. Ten years ago, that wasn’t the case. But what I’ve slowly but surely done over the last ten years is honor who I am, create a life vision that excites me, work towards goals that matter to me, and fill my life with the things that bring me joy.
To me, aligned living looks like: annual anniversary trips with my wife, adventuring and exploring the world in places like Colorado, writing this newsletter, building my life coaching business, and more.
Those things make my life fulfilling because they are aligned with who I am and what I want. Does that necessarily mean that they are always easy to do? Heck no! But ease and fulfillment are not synonymous. What matters more is that they feel good to do and I feel most like me when I’m doing them.
So the question that I’m going to leave you with today is the same one I started with:
What does aligned living look like to you? And…. How can you start doing those things that feel aligned, more?
Talk soon!
Warmly,
Coach Tay
